Best Mashup Contest @ Mashup Camp 3

Rules: Basically, there are none

So far, every edition of Mashup Camp has involved a Best Mashup competition and some pretty sweet prizes. For Mashup Camp 3 however, there are actually going to be three separate competitions. In the tradition of prior Mashup Camps, we will have the standard Best Mashup/SpeedGeeking combination. But in addition to that, there are also two other competitions that are tied into the FutureBOSTON project at MIT that involve cash prizes and an opportunity to be involved longer term with an incredibly prestigious and cutting edge initiative. For more information on that, be sure to check out our Future Boston page.

As for the Best Mashup Contest, here's how it works. Upon gaining entry into Mashup Camp, every attendee will be given a single wooden nickel. Then during Mashup Camp, we will be running what's called Speed Geeking sessions. This is like speed dating except the mashup developers will be camped out at various tables and you'll be roaming from table to table in group of about 5 people for about 5 minutes per table. Then, after you've seen all or most of the mashups that are trying to win the contest, you decide for yourself which one is best (using your own criteria) and give the developer of that mashup your wooden nickel. The developer with the most wooden nickels at the end of Mashup Camp wins.

To see the mashups that were entered into the first contest at Mashup Camp 1, see that Speed Geeking page.

So, what do you need to do at this point?

First, if you're a developer, then make sure you list the mashup(s) that you're going to enter into the contest on the Speed Geeking 3 page. If you're not a developer and will be voting, be sure to visit the Speed Geeking page to familarize yourself with some of the entries.

Second, make sure you get your wooden nickel when you enter Mashup Camp.

Third, if you're a developer, make sure you do some campaigning throughout camp. If you're a voter, seek out the developers during the free periods to find out more about their mashups.
