Data Mining for Mashups: Combination, Visualization, Aggregation
From MashupCamp
In this session we will discuss different ways to mashup all that sweet, sweet data exposed by APIs. Let's explore some different and uncommon ways to mine data for new information. Simply combining two data sources or pinning data on a map is soooo March 2006! I'm talking about data analysis, aggregation, classification, prediction, clustering, and other polysyllabic terms that require real math to pull off. We'll also discuss what kind of data is ideal for algorithms over, say, social networks and the collective mind.
NOTE! This is more of a "what you can do" than a "how to" discussion, so don't let that math part scare you off; however, the presence of a real-life mathematician, statistician, economist, or rocket scientist would be helpful to keep us all in check. I speak for the hacks like myself.
- Developers: This session will get the mashup idea juices flowing. You'll walk out pondering new ways to bend your data--and everyone else's for that matter. Learn how to substitute creativity with algorithms.
- Entrepreneurs & VC's: Free biz plans. 'Nuff said.
- API Providers: Get a sneak peek of what developers will be demanding next from your APIs.
