Really hoping for some ideas or inspiration or actual mashups to use in the travel sites I work with and publish.

I'm starting to use Google's API in simple forms but it appears Yahoo's is more robust, yet intimidating to learn for a non-programmer like me.

It would sure be nice to integrate public domain resources like NOAA weather, state traffic reports, road cams, and maps into a clean and easy to navigate geographical interface based on Google or Yahoo mapping.

- i was thinking that the other day and came across this http://www.weatherbonk.com/weather/index.jsp - TaylorMcKnight

Thanks Taylor - Weatherbonk is great and the closest thing I've seen to what I'd like to do, but they don't seem to have integrated very many road cams. Also the interface seems sort of slow and clunky - I think because so many calls out to data are made as you surf the site and click. Not sure how to overcome that problem without a lot of complicated caching of info.

-Hey I'm the creator of Weather Bonk and am open to suggestions. When I'm not using the wifi at Mashup Camp, the page generally loads in 1-2 seconds in FireFox. There's a fairly extensive caching (unless you select 'All Weather'). Traffic coverage is quite comprehensive in a number of cities, but largely depends on users submitting the cams check out Minneapolis Traffic as an example. You could also try using the dynamic data layer for Google Earth if you wanted a different interface

David - Nice to meet you at MashupCamp yesterday and see more about WeatherBonk. I'm hoping to keep in touch with you as I move ahead with the Caltrans Road Cams project.
