Panel Discussion: Making the Case for Mashups in Business
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 | 10:15am - 11:00am
In October 2008, Gartner identified the mashup approach to software development as one of the top four disruptions that will transform the software industry, saying that by 2010, Web mashups will be the dominant model for the creation of composite enterprise applications. 2010? That's less than two years away and for many businesses -- especially bigger businesses -- that may be an ambitious timetable. Forgetting the timetable for a minute and even the prediction of dominance, if mashups end up with only half that credibilty, then the benefits of the mashup approach will still have proven to be so overwhelmingly positive that businesses would be foolish to ignore the approach. So, what are those benefits? What is it about mashups that make them so special that they could eventually become the dominant approach to creating composite applications in the enterprise? In this all-camp panel discussion, we look to make the case for mashups in business.
