Mashup Camp 2 Logistics

Important Note about Food: We will be serving a light breakfast (free danishes, muffins, etc.) starting at 8am. Lunch is free too and there will be a free beer/wine reception on Wednesday night with hor's douvres.

Mashup Camp 2, like its predecessor Mashup Camp 1, will be run as an unconference that's largely based the Open Space methodology. As far as preparing for Mashup Camp, what this means is that most of the event's agenda will be determined by the attendees at the event itself. In contrast to events whose agendas are often determined 6-12 months in advance by people who aren't very in touch with the information needs of the potential attendees, having the attendees program the content at event time ensures both the relevance, timeliness, and vibrancy of that content. Instead of typical conference sessions where speakers or panels present to large audiences (often with PowerPoint presentations behind them), Mashup Camp involves leader-moderated discussions that everyone is free to contribute to. In advance of Mashup Camp 2, attendees are encouraged to give other paticipants a heads up on the discussions they'd like to propose at event-time. To publish your ideas or view those that others will proposing, see the Discussion Ideas page. To get an idea of how this worked at Mashup Camp 1, check out the original discussion ideas page for that event and then, the final list of discussion that actually took place.

At 9AM on Day One we will open Camp with the introductions and thanks to the Friends of Mashup Camp, followed by a quick review of the rules of the "unconference" and solicitation for suggested sessions. Once the sessions are selected and rooms assigned (around 10AM) we will begin the general sessions. These sessions will run for approximately one hour (however, this could be much longer depending on the topic. We encourage campers to continue their session discussions throughout their time at camp should the topic warrent). General sessions will run from 10AM until Lunch then 1PM until 6PM on Wednesday the 12th followed by an evening reception of some sort.

Sessions will start up agian at 9AM on the 13th and run until Lunch. After Lunch we will once again host a round of Speed Geeking where we invite the developers and Mashup Artists to compete for the Best Mashup. Each artist will demonstrate their mashup(s) and attendees will then cast their votes for Best at Camp. Mashup Camp 2 will conclude around 4PM.

More will be added to this page as we get closer to the program and additional elements are confirmed.
