The StrikeIron Contest
StrikeIron is an online marketplace for web-services.
In other words, StrikeIron offers APIs for commercial mashups.
StrikeIron is offering two prizes as part of the IBM Business Mashup Challenge:
- co-sponsoring $1500 for best overall mashup using any APIs (not just StrikeIron)
- $500 for the best widget/mashup that uses StrikeIron
Most likely, there will be only 1 or 2 participants for the $500 prize, so your chances of winning are high.
(Entering the StrikeIron contest will *not* prevent you from entering the other contests; the same mashup can be used for all entries.)
To get started:
- Talk to the IBM team about getting QEDWiki installed on your laptop.
(* You should find several "widgets" from StrikeIron already installed with QEDWiki--if you don't find them, ask the IBM guys for help.)
- Register for a free developer account on strikeiron.com
- Now create a mashup with QEDWiki which incorporates a StrikeIron
web-service--in the form of a widget which you'll drag-and-drop in "Assemble" mode in QEDwiki. (You'll have to add your StrikeIron username and password to the widget to make it work.)
That's it. If you do the above, you're eligible to enter the StrikeIron contest. Good luck!
